Music Monday Reborn

Before I started this blog, I had a music blog called Plugged In on wordpress which has remained untouched since August. I never really got into the swing of things with it, but one post I always like doing was Music Monday's, where I wrote about the songs that I'm loving at the moment.

So, I've decided to bring that over here! Who says everything has to be beauty or fashion related, music is a massive part of my life and if you'd like to read about it, I'll write about it!
Be warned, my music tastes can vary to extreme ends of the scale, like this week!

The Seeking - Alone

I discovered The Seeking after my beloved Tyler Carter, lead singer of Issues and formally Woe, Is Me tweeted a link to this song, Alone. I immediately liked this and searched them on Spotify to hear the rest of the album. They kind of sound like The Wanted, if Max decided to scream on a couple of tracks. It's lovely and the last 30 seconds reminds me so much of Desolate, The Conductor, which is fantastic.

Hunter Hayes - Somebody's Heartbreak

I just seem to have a thing for male country singers. John Mayer is one of my all time favourite artists, I'm addicted to Jake Owen - Alone With You and I've already posted about my love for Landon Austin. Hunter Hayes is just a continuation of this trend, Somebody's Heartbreak is my favourite track on his stellar album - Faith To Fall Back On and What You Gonna Do were close contenders. He's only 21 yet he's reached a level that 40 year old's pray for. Now all I need is a Mayer/Hayes duet....

Rihanna feat. Chris Brown - Nobody's Business

I know, it's weird. I should hate it, but I can't help it. Chris Brown's music is a guilty pleasure of mine and Rihanna continually makes catchy songs, so put the two of them together with a Michael Jackson sampler and I'm hooked. Don't judge, just listen.

Models Own Raspberry Crush

Raspberry Crush is the nail polish I got free in this weeks More! magazine, which I talked about in my Magazine Freebies post. Now I absolutely love Models Own polishes, but this is one that I had never really noticed and definitely wouldn't have chosen myself.

It's a difficult colour to describe, I guess it's mostly pink, a clue is in the name Raspberry, but it in some lights it looks red, and even slightly orange. It's definitely different!

It's very opaque, and went on the nail nicely. I would think you'd only need one coat, but as I'm an impatient fidget, I wound up smudging a few nails and applying a second coat.

Magazine Freebies!

This month seems to be a great one for magazine freebies! Today I went to buy Cosmo, totally for university research purposes, and saw it had a free V05 frizz free cream, and then I just fancied a flick through More! and didn't even notice the free Models Own nail polish until I got home!

Luckily I picked up Raspberry Crush rather than the Nude Beige type colour, as it looks exactly the same as my Topshop Big Smoke. Apparantly you can also get one of two Models Own lip glosses instead, if you're not a nail girl. I'm definitely going to try out that colour tonight!

Sweet Scents

Sweet Scents is a new business set up by two University students, Levi and Laura, who are making and selling beautiful scented candles, soaps and body scrubs. The girls kindly gave me two of their products to review, and after a couple of uses in the shower - I am in love!

Gingerbread Lady scented soap

The first one I tried was the Gingerbread Lady soap - the smell just dragged me in. It's like a Gingerbread latte x 10! It's a good chunky shape, so you're getting a whole lot of product and it's easy to use. Did I mention the smell? It's incredible - I felt like I had just stepped out of a bakery (or a Starbucks) mmmm.

Strawberry Jam Tart scented soap

Now this soap is slightly smaller, but just as cute. My flatmate was most drawn to this soap, she can't believe how much it smells like a jam tart! It lathers up just as nicely as the Gingerbread Lady soap, and although it might not last quite as long, as it is smaller in size, if you're more of a fan of sweet smelling soaps - then this could be for you!

Ice Cream Delight scented soap

I'm not sure what the prices are on these, but they have two other scented products on their Etsy store which are both priced at £2.80 - these are Ice Cream Delight scented soap and Apple Pie scented Cupcake candle, which both sound gorgeous!

Step aside Lush - I think I know where my Christmas presents are coming from this year!

Man of the Week #3

This week, I'm just going to cheat and pick three men - choosing between them is impossible!

On Saturday night I watched the 2011 re-make of Fright Night and absolutely loved it - it's one of my new favourite vampire movies - helped in no small part by the beauties that starred in it!

I haven't seen the 80's version of the film so I can't compare, but I just really enjoyed it and these three guys are just fantastic in it and I couldn't pick between them!

I've had a thing for Colin Farrell since Phone Booth and In Bruges, David Tennant is just perfect as he plays a Russell Brand type character, bit different from his Doctor Who days and Dave Franco just shows off the excellent genes he shares with James and plays a great small role - need to see 21 Jump Street again for more!

New Lush Loves

Now I absolutely love Lush, and if I had the money I'd be there all the time buying new things to treat myself with, but sadly I don't so I try to limit my visits there until I really, really want something.

The change in weather has been wreaking havoc with my skin and my lips are so chapped I'm having to avoid my new favourite matte lipsticks because they just look terrible. So after I'd heard so many good things about the Lush lip scrubs, with the recommendation of my friend I went for the popcorn flavour - which is delicious!

As my favourite soap Lemslip was discontinued *sob* I asked the woman in the store what she thought were good dupes for it, and her recommendation was Northern Lights soap. It has a slightly more floral 'soapy' smell to it than Lemslip did but it's light and tropical and makes me want a drink of 7UP!

It may very well challenge Lemslip as my fruity favourite.

Sale Picks!

Cash is a little bit strapped at the moment so I'm limiting my online window shopping to sale only and today I found three pieces that are really making me want to dip into my bank account once more!

1. You can never have too many little black laces dresses, and at £15.00 this one from River Island is an absolute steal! It looks slightly high in the neck so I'd have to try it on before I commit to a purchase.

2. The Geek and Loser slogan tees are very popular at the moment, and I'm not sure which label I prefer but this grey one from Topshop is my current fave!

3. Now this is my risky little pick. It's over sized, it's a bold print, I sort of love it and it's only a tenner... ooh River Island what are you trying to do to me! It's another one I'd have to try on.

Halloween Style

I went a little bit crazy with the Halloween make-up this year, using theatrical white face powder, breaking all the make-up rules of over-doing blusher and eyeliner and even sampled some Eye Rock designer liner creations as bottom lashes!

Collective Haul!

There have been some great online sales recently and I still have some boots vouchers so I have done a little bit of splurging this week - but I'm done until Christmas now I swear!

Glamorous Dress
Topshop Metallic Jacket

 I'm iffy on this Glamorous dress to be honest, but it was only £9.99 and I've worn it and taken the tag off so I don't really think I can return it... I don't know, it's just more synthetic material than I like and it clings to my lumps and bumps, eh.

I love my Topshop jacket, though I have absolutely no idea when I'm going to wear it. It's a lot nicer than that picture shows, it's a metallic dusty pink and it fits nicely - I will find a suitable outfit!

Look Beauty Blush - 'Flirt'

I went for this blusher over Sleek's Rose Gold because it's a bigger palette, and it's more coral toned than pink, as most of my blushers are more pink based I fancied a change. It's really pigmented and I'm looking forward to blending it with my bronzer.

Little bit of everything here, two nail polishes that I really wanted, the Maybelline mascara I've been meaning to try for ages and then the V05 Moisture Soak which my hair is in dire need of, and Lipcote which I've been searching for!

Anndddddd onto the six lipsticks!!

Kate Moss for Rimmel Matte Lipsticks - 107 and 110

 I'm in love with this collection, I want them all, the Matte's especially! I went for 107 which is a dark pinky red, and 110 which is a bright coral - the texture is just gorgeous.

MUA Lipsticks - Shade 10 and 16 (Nectar)

 Then these MUA lipsticks kind of look similar to the Kate Moss ones but Shade 10 is a lot pinker than 110 and Shade 16, Nectar is more muted and pale (though it doesn't look it in the photo)

Sleek Lipsticks - Peaches & Cream and Papaya Punch

These are my first Sleek lipsticks and it's a bit of a hit and a miss. Papaya Punch is gorgeous, the coral colour, the matte finish - amazing. Peaches and Cream however... eh. It doesn't really stay on my lipsticks and I think it's a bit too yellow for my skin tone - I will persist with it!

I ♥ Autumn Tag!

Okay technically it's the I ♥ Fall Tag, but I can't cope with Americanisms so it's Autumn! This is a youtube video tag but I've just stolen it from Bree Essrig because I love Autumn and I think it's a fun tag.

1. Favourite autumn lip product?

It's all about dark pinks, berry's and corals for me - with the occasional purple if I'm brave enough.

The three that spring to mind from my collection are Rimmel Moisture Renew in Funtime Fuscia, Revlon Colorburst in Coral and Revlon Superlustrous in Va Va Violet - very vampy, definitely exfoliate your lips before attempting to pull this one off!

2. Favourite autumn nail polish?

I don't tend to change my nail polish seasonly, if I fancy baby pink in the middle of winter I just go for it.
If we're following a similar theme to autumn lipsticks, I guess my three favourites would be Revlon Plum Attraction, Nails Inc Piccadilly Circus, and Topshop Hyperreal - bit different, but I just love the metallic bronze!

3. Favourite autumn Starbucks drink?

It's most definitely the salted caramel mocha - I had my first one and just fell in love!

4. Favourite autumn candle?

I'm not really a candle person, I'd be too scared of forgetting about it and starting a fire!
If I were to go out and buy a candle, it would be something like this Cinnamon Apple Berry from Yankee Candles or maybe something gingerbread scented!

5. Favourite autumn scarf or accessory?

My purple floral h&m scarf or my faux fur stole over my leather jacket - love!

6. Haunted house, haunted hay ride or haunted corn maze?

A haunted hay ride sounds like the least terrifying, running through a haunted house could be fun though. I'll pass on the corn maze, little bit too Jeepers Creepers for me!

7. Favourite Halloween movie?

If I'm going for a classic, it's A Nightmare on Elm Street, but if I want an updated scare I'd go for any Paranormal Activity, Insidious or The Unborn.

8. Favourite thing to eat on Halloween?

Everything sweet - I'm terrible! Anything that was left when the trick or treaters were gone was all mine.

9. What is your Halloween costume?

I'm doing a glam vampire, I was thinking about channelling Star from The Lost Boys but I doubt anyone would get the connection.

10. What is your favourite thing about Autumn?

The clothes! I'm such a summer weather person, but I just love boots, chunky knits, big coats - dark reds and khakis are my favourite colours at the moment so I love that it's all in!

Recent Buys!

As it was my birthday recently, I found a great excuse to do some shopping in the previous week. I did return quite a few things that just weren't right, but these were my 5 favourites that I kept and love!

I adore my Ark maxi skirt, it's half opaque half sheer and just a gorgeous cranberry colour. These pictures are terrible, I will try and do an OOTD post featuring it soon!

I know it's winter but I still need dolly shoes for my nights out - I am a terrible excuse for a girl and just cannot handle heels! I just want some black studded pumps now and I'm set.

Now this necklace was my most exciting purchase by far. I've seen Leanne from Thunder & Threads show it off in so many posts and I couldn't believe my luck when I found one left in H&M - I've been wearing it all the time!

I also got some make-up type stuff this week, a couple of cult favourites that I've been wanting for ages!

Models Own Haul

Models Own is one of my absolute favourite nail polish brands, so when they announced they were having a 50% off summer sale, I just jumped at the chance to get some of the gorgeous shades I've been wanting!

I was absolutely spoilt for choice over which to use first! I went for Pink Punch and Ibiza Mix on my nails (you can see how that looks here) and I put Indian Ocean over Essie's Navigate Her on my toes which looks so cute but I don't want to take pictures of my feet.

I've also tried out Disco Mix over Essie's Tour De Finance since I bought these and I think it the glitter looks awesome over hot pink!

Man of the Week!

This is a new thing for my blog, I ran the idea past two of the girls in my flat and they said they liked it so hear we go. Every Tuesday I am going to have a new Man of the Week - showing you the guy I'm absolutely loving for whatever reason at that moment in time.

They're calling it 'Mini Mani Month' and it's exclusive to Selfridges, costing £38. It just seems too good to be true, all that for just under £40... and I'm so close to cracking my self-imposed budget and giving in.

There are 17 of Ciaté's best selling mini paint pots, 4 mini Cavier blends and 3 exclusive glitter shades!

I'd put this on my Christmas list but I know it will sell out by then - argh the temptation!

Life Update! University and Birthday

I know I've been absent from blogging for far too long and I'm very sorry, but I just started my third year at University and my hours and work load have almost tripled so I just haven't made time to blog until now - I'm devising a regular set schedule for content!

It's also been my 21st birthday which was amazing, I absolutely loved the entire week of celebrations, so as a kind of welcome back to my blog, I thought I'd show you some pictures!
